- Description
Both Cain and Abel brought a minchah offering unto the God of Israel (Genesis 4:2-5). Abel's offering was accepted. However, Cain's offering was not accepted. Why? It is because Abel gave what YHVH required and he did it with the right heart attitude. Cain did not have the proper heart attitude. So, what is the spiritual meaning of the minchah (KJV: meat) offering? It is our best gift to YHVH with a right heart in obedience to Him. Literally, the minchah offering was to be put on the altar. It was to be given with salt. Spiritually, the altar is our heart and salt represents an eternal relationship and commitment. A minchah could not be brought with leaven. In the Bible, leaven represents sin. From this, we learn that a minchah is brought to YHVH with a right heart attitude. The minchah offering is linked with holiness, righteousness, sanctification and being anointed for service unto the God of Israel. When we give to YHVH in obedience to Him our best with a right heart attitude, He dwells with us.
