The Feast of Tabernacles in Hebrew is called Sukkot. A sukkah is a temporary dwelling place or shelter. Sukkot is a seven day festival in the seventh month of the Biblical calendar. Spiritually, Sukkot represents the completion of our spiritual journey in seeking to do the Will of God in our lives after coming out of Egypt which represents the world and the world's system. The major themes of Sukkot are the season of our joy, the festival of ingathering (harvest), the feast of the nations, the festival of dedication and the festival of lights. All of these themes will be spiritually explained. In traditional Judaism, during Sukkot, your read from the book of Ecclesiastes which teaches you about the vanity of seeking material gain over spiritual values. During Sukkot, you wave palm branches. Sukkot is the remembrance of the children of Israel dwelling in tents in the wilderness. Prophetically, Sukkot looks forward to the end of the exile of the twelve tribes of Israel and the Messianic Era.
